Collagen: A Natural Protein

Summary: Collagen is the significant structural component of all connective tissue.

As we age, we notice lines on our forehead, at the sides of our mouth; wrinkles and laugh lines, which are one of the things we don’t want on our face. Also, we feel aches and pains, especially in our joints.

It is not about we want to hide our age, it’s just that these make us feel not so good about ourselves. Aging is inevitable; all of us will go through the same process.

However, there are ways and means to slow down this process, but first, we should understand the aging process and its mechanism.

Starting at the age of 25, our body tends to produce a lesser amount of collagen – about 15 % less every year. Collagen is a natural protein that is the main component of cartilage, ligaments, and tendons, and the main protein component of bones and teeth. Along with soft keratin, it is accountable for skin potency and elasticity, and the dilapidation of skin which leads to wrinkles that come with aging. The way our skin looks is directly related to the way our skin is supported. In the mid layer of skin, called dermis, collagen is made by fibroblast cells; it forms a fibrous network on which new cells can grow. It strengthens blood vessels and plays a role in tissue development. This is why broken bones can regenerate and wounds can heal. It is present in the cornea and lens of the eye in crystalline form. This is also used in cosmetic surgery and burns surgery.

Collagen treatment or Replacement Therapy efficiently takes away most signs of aging and brings back your youthful face once again.

The natural appearance of your skin may be enhanced as the curve of the support structure is restored. Depending on the amount of sun damage, age, and skin condition, the treatment program will be tailored to incorporate your individual needs.

The collagen in human skin is very much alike to the one found in certain animals. As a result, animal collagen has many medical applications. Heat valves used during surgery are also made of collagen. Injectable bovine collagen is made of sterile, purified collagen from cow’s skin. Human collagen implants are highly purified and isolated from human skin grown in a laboratory. Skin cells are grown primarily to manufacture living skin-equivalents needed for treating burns and ulcers.

Collagen has been extensively used in cosmetic surgery and certain skin substitutes for burns patient. And it is good to know that there is a therapy for burns cases. Just imagine what will happen to these patients if no remedy can be done to improve their situation? But, the cosmetic use of collagen is on the way out because there is a fairly high rate of allergic reactions causing protracted redness and these reactions require noticeable patch testing prior to cosmetic use. Also, most medical collagen is derived from cows, posing the risk of transmitting diseases. The patient’s own fat or hyaluronic acid is readily available as a substitute for collagen.

Collagens are still in use in the construction of artificial skin substitutes used in the management of severe burns. These maybe bovine or porcine and are used in combination with silicones, glycosaminoglycans, fibroblasts, growth factors, and other substances.

Beauty Tips That Will Make You Radiate

Beauty regimens can be very intimidating to someone that has never done them before. They can easily lead to a bit of information overload because of all of the resources available to those inexperienced. Below are some tips to assist you in getting all of this information organized to where you can start creating an effective beauty regimen.

If you need to soak up extra oil in your T-Zones, you can use blotting papers to quickly give your face a more matte appearance. These sheets often come in small, pocket-sized packets; many are offered with rice powder or in a powder-free option. The packets are very cheap and can be slipped into your purse or desk drawer.

Don’t think you need to cut off your hair every time you’re bored with its style. Sometimes it’s easy to lack imagination when faced with hair that has outgrown its former style. One easy trick to try is to part it in different ways. You may be shocked how much you like it.

For beautiful nails, put a top coat on top of your nail polish every time. Topcoat will not only keep your nails looking shiny, it will extend the length of time between polishing. Avoid substituting clear nail polish for topcoat as it is not the same product, and will not provide the same benefit.

To highlight your eyes and make them look larger and more awake, use a shimmery, pale shade of vanilla or light gold just under your brow bone. You can sweep it down to cover your entire lid for a natural look or sweep it on after applying your other eye colors to frame your eyes.

Gorgeous, brightly colored hair can be very challenging to maintain. Instead of redyeing it over and over again to enhance the color, invest in a good color-enhancing or color-depositing shampoo product. Use it every other time you wash your hair, alternating with your regular shampoo. Note though that using it every day may weigh down your hair unnecessarily.

If you have a hard time getting your eyeliner to stay put, you can apply eyeshadow after you put on eyeliner. You should lightly put your shadow over your eyeliner with a cotton ball. This will seal the application of eyeliner and it will last longer and not run.

If your eye area is shiny or oily, you should prepare the surrounding skin for makeup application beforehand. Using an eyeliner brush, sweep on a thin line of your face powder all around your eye. This will absorb excessive moisture. After this, you can apply your eyeliner or eyeshadow without fear of smudging or flaking.

You have curled your hair with a curling iron, but have you ever thought about using heat on your eyelashes? No, don’t use a curling iron on your eyelashes because that is just too dangerous, but heat up your eyelash curler with a hair dryer for a few seconds, so your eyelashes will curl more easily.

Hopefully, these tips have provided you with some very valuable information, as well as given you a way to organize all of the thoughts and information you may have already had on beauty regimens. Keeping these tips in mind when you start creating your own can help you one day become a beauty pro.

Do Eyelashes Grow Back – Good Health Prevails

(c) to the owner of the Image.

While most of us think of eyelashes as only another feature that can draw attention and add beauty to our eyes, they actually serve a very important purpose, they protect our eyes from dust, sweat and other foreign materials. If you have some accident or medical issue and you’ve lost your eyelashes, you are probably wondering: do eyelashes grow back?

Eyelashes, just like all the other hair on your body, do have their own unique life stages. They will grow, fall off and more will be regrown. They do shed and break off in between the growth cycles but if you maintain good overall hygiene, you can keep that to a minimum.

There is a name for each unique phase: anagen, catagen, and the telogen. The anagen phase is when your eyelashes grow. This phase will last almost two months, about 7 weeks. At any given time you’ll have about 1/3 of your eyelashes in this growth phase.

The catagen phase is the phase when the growth is on hold for about 3 weeks. And last, but not least, the telogen phase. This is the phase when your lashes will fall out.

Obviously, since under normal circumstances you never lose all your lashes at the same time, the answer to the question: ‘do eyelashes grow back’ would be ‘yes’. You will have some eyelashes in each of these three stages at all times.

The growth rate will vary from person to person. One of the best things you can do to increase your own growth rate is to avoid those things which are bad for you. Cut back on alcohol intake, stop smoking, eat plenty of nutritious foods and drink plenty of water. By keeping your body healthy on the inside, you can increase the growth of your eyelashes on the outside.

Of course, if you have suffered some sort of trauma or damage to your face or you are under enormous stress or other conditions that threaten your health, this normal growth stage can slow down or even stop. Eyelashes are hair and just like the hair on your head if you apply harsh chemicals too often that can have a negative impact on the growth. This can usually be reversed with a little time and TLC.

If you find you are not regrowing your eyelashes you should take a trip to your doctor. This lack of growth is very likely a sign of some underlying health issue. That doesn’t necessarily have to be serious, but it should be taken care of, and not just for the sake of your eyelashes.

More often than not, you can simply take some vitamins, eat better, get enough sleep and cut back on some of the garbage you put in your body and you will see an increase in growth.

So, do eyelashes grow back? Yes, they do, but only if your body is healthy enough to do its job properly. And don’t forget, just like the hair on your head gets damaged with too much styling, the same can hold true for your eyelashes. If you’re good to your eyelashes, your eyelashes will be good for you.

Discover The Most Popular And Effective Beauty Tips

Some people may say that beauty is only skin deep. However, your appearance plays a big role in how other people think and react to you. Because of this, it’s important to do all you can to look your best. This blog will give you some tips on how you can do just that.

If you hate the problems of clumpy and matted eyelashes, try using an eyelash curler. This will make the eyelashes thick and full without using any products. When using the curler, start at the roots and only use on lashes that are clean. Over time your lashes will become fuller, thicker, and beautiful.

Use a base coat, two layers of polish and a top coat to maximize the length of time that your nail polish will look great. This will give you the look of a professional manicure and keeps the varnish on the nail much longer than what one coat of polish would.

If you have large ears and you want to hide them, you may want to consider growing your hair long enough so that you can cover them. Try to avoid putting your hair in a bun or ponytail as these hairstyles will just make your large ears more noticeable.

People who have fair skin and hair need a little extra tinting to bring out the definition. The best is to use eyebrow tinting, this will bring out the color of your eyebrows as well as add an extra pop to your eyes. Sometimes the subtle little things can make the most difference.

For a moisturizing, beautifying bath treatment, add rice milk, soy milk, or oat milk to a tub filled with warm (not hot) water. Milk of any kind softens and smooths the skin, making it appear youthful and more evenly toned. It will also make sensitive skin feel better, leaving you calm and relaxed.

If you have a hard time getting your eyeliner to stay put, you can apply eyeshadow after you put on eyeliner. You should lightly put your shadow over your eyeliner with a cotton ball. This will seal the application of eyeliner and it will last longer and not run.

If you have an overly pale appearance this can be due to iron deficiency. Take a daily iron supplement or eat a spoonful of iron-rich manuka honey. This will help you look healthier and give your skin a natural glow.

Keep any lotion available in case of emergencies. You never know when your appearance will be in need of some quick fixes. Lotion can not only immediately fix dry skin, but it can also fix a frizzy hair emergency. Rub a pea-sized amount into your palm and smooth through hair.

No matter what your feelings about beauty, you can certainly benefit from looking your best. Be sure to apply as much of the advice in this blog as you can. As you continue to look more attractive on the outside, you may be surprised at how much better you feel on the inside.

Eye Makeup Tips – How To Apply Eyeliner

In this blog, we will take a look at how to apply eyeliner with some tips on achieving some great effects.

One stunning effect that can be achieved easily and a favorite of such well-known actresses from Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe to Gwyneth Paltrow is rimming the eyes with either a white or beige eye pencil. This has the effect of enlarging the white of the eye to create a seductive, alluring look.

To apply the eye pencil, pull your lid away from the eye very gently using one or two fingers and draw a line along the inner eye rims. Do the same with both the upper and lower lids. To make a sharpened pencil softer and easier to apply, you can draw a few lines first on the back of your hand. This will soften the tip and get the color flowing.

Kohl can be applied in the same way with sensational effect. The use of kohl goes back to ancient Egyptian times and is characteristic of eye makeup in the Middle and the Far East. Apply your kohl pencil as described above to both the upper and lower rims, from corner to corner. Then, using either a sponge-tipped applicator, eyeshadow brush, or even your fingertip, blend the color by smudging it to create a smoky effect.

Once you are satisfied with the appearance, you will need to set it by using a light application of loose powder. For an even stronger, more intense effect, apply your preferred color around the eyes in either cream, liquid or powder form.

If you want to use liquid eyeliner, once you’ve mastered the technique of applying it, this can be a quick method of achieving a stunning and sophisticated look. But applying liquid eyeliner can take a little practice.

To begin, it’s best to be in front of a good magnifying mirror, so that your eyes are magnified sufficiently to see very clearly what you are about to do and ensure a smooth application of the liquid eyeliner. Then, using your free hand, start by pulling the eyelid taut. If you’re right-handed it’s probably easiest for you to start applying the liquid from left-to-right, as if you are writing, and vice versa if you are left-handed. Draw across in a single continuous fine line. If you want a thicker line then, at the end of the run, simply retrace.

A tip when applying liquid eyeliner is to apply it as close as possible to the eyelashes, even running into the eyelashes. This will avoid you getting that annoying white line effect between the lashes and the liner when the two don’t meet.

Applying liquid eyeliner does take some practice, so have a bottle of makeup remover to hand until you are confident in the technique.

As they say: “practice makes perfect”, and with a little perseverance and a steady hand you’ll soon be achieving some great effects.

Fibroblasts

What are Fibroblasts?

A fibroblast is a type of cell that is responsible for making the extracellular matrix and collagen.

Together, this extracellular matrix and collagen form the structural framework of tissues in animals and plays an important role in tissue repair. Fibroblasts are the main connective tissue cells present in the body.

Wound healing and the role of fibroblasts.

Fibroblasts are critical in supporting normal wound healing, involved in key processes such as breaking down the fibrin clot, creating a new extracellular matrix (ECM) and collagen structures to support the other cells associated with effective wound healing, as well as contracting the wound. This article explores and summarises the research evidence on the role of fibroblasts, their origins and activation, and how they navigate the wound bed, as well as how their activity leads to wound contraction. This article also explores the local conditions at the wound site, which activate, regulate and ultimately reduce the fibroblast activity as the skin’s integrity returns on healing.

As well as being present as fibroblasts, these cells exist in an alternative state, as fibrocytes. The fibroblast is the term used to describe these cells when they are in an activated state. Fibrocyte refers to the less active state when the cell is involved in tissue maintenance and metabolism. Some researchers use the term fibroblast for both cellular states but the term “blast” usually refers to a stem cell or a cell’s activated state.

The appearance of fibroblasts changes depending on their function and site of action. Fibroblasts taken from a particular location can “remember” their original location and function when transplanted to another location in the body.

Fibroblast origin

The primary function of fibroblasts is the maintenance of structural integrity within the connective tissue. They achieve this by secreting extracellular matrix precursors required for formation of the connective tissue and various fibers.

Fibroblasts are originally derived from primitive mesenchyme and therefore display the filament protein vimentin, which acts as a marker of mesodermal origin. In some cases, epithelial cells may also produce fibroblasts, a process which is referred to as epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Conversely, fibroblasts sometimes undergo a mesenchymal-epithelial transition (MET) to produce epithelia, a process that is seen in development, tissue repair, and tumor growth.

FIBROBLAST NON-SURGICAL REJUVENATING SKIN TREATMENT

Fibroblast is an innovative treatment with results which you would normally only expect after surgery but there are no scalpels and no suturing involved. The treated area is sublimated (converted directly to vapor) using the plasma beam without damage to the deep skin or muscle.

ADVANTAGES :

  • Non-surgical rejuvenation
  • Virtually pain-free treatment
  • No injectable anesthetic required
  • No cutting of skin or stitches required
  • Minimal side effects and downtime
  • Instant & amazing results

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

– Non-surgical blepharoplasty – skin tightening of saggy upper and lower eyelids

– Skin lesions such as moles, skin tags, fibromas, warts, papillomas, and xanthelasma, seborrheic keratosis

-Unwanted wrinkles on face – frown lines, crow’s feet, smoker’s lines, necklines etc.

– Skin pigmentation, age spots on face or hands, sun spots, melasma, chloasma, freckles

– Scarring including stretch marks, acne scars, and post-surgical scars

What can I expect after my Fibroblast plasma treatment?

Final results after Plexr depend on the severity of skin laxity or size of the lesion, the desired result, the general condition of the skin and any pre-existing skin or medical problems. Reduction in skin folds and creases appear immediately. The tiny dark brown spots flake off over the following two to three weeks and the skin will heal within a similar period. Swelling is common and can be quite pronounced around the eyes, often worse the following morning and lasting for several days. The area may be tender as it is healing and may scab. It is important to allow any spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise scarring or infection may occur. As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.

Facts About Your Eyelashes

Here is some list of facts about your eyelashes:

1. They fall out daily.

Actually, anywhere from one to five will drop out each day. And at three months, an eyelash’s growth cycle is much shorter than the hair on your head — which is one reason why they don’t grow very long.

2. There’s a big difference between your upper and lower lashes.

The hairs on your top lid are much fuller than your lower lashline. In fact, they’re almost twice as full with about 200 to 300 lashes. (Your lower lid has about 100.)

3. They protect your eyes.

Like our eyebrows, the tiny hairs on our lids keep dirt, sweat, water, and other unwanted debris out of the way. Too bad they sometimes fall into your eye themselves, Unfortunately, they sometimes fall into your eye causing a stray hair fall into your eyeball.

4. Lashes grow in three periods.

There’s the anagen phase (active growth period), the catagen phase (transitional period), and the telogen phase (resting period). And at any given time, 90% of your lashes are in the active growth stage where they grow about .16 millimeters a day. So, if you cut your lashes they will grow back… it will just take about five months.

5. The longest eyelash on record was 2.75 inches long.

Actually, it was 6.99 centimeters to be exact. And believe it or not, a guy holds this record. In comparison, the average lash length is about 10 millimeters.

6. They vary in length, too.

The middle lashes are generally much longer than the sides.

7. Tiny mites live in your eyelashes.

But don’t worry — you need them. Called Demodex, they remove dirt and debris and help clean your lash follicles. (A clogged lash follicle can lead to a painful sty, so be thankful for those tiny bugs!)

8. Embryos Have Lashes, Too

The human embryo actually begins developing eyelashes between the 7th to 8th week of pregnancy!

9. Eyelashes Die and Rise Again

It typically takes an eyelash around 45 days to grow, which is why it typically takes over a month for you to see results with eyelash growth products. Once the lashes are done growing, they tend to stick around for around 120 more days and then they fall out and the whole process begins again.

10. Eyelashes Have a Limit

Unlike the hair on our head – which can grow seemingly endlessly – eyelashes have a set limit that differs from person to person.

The only way to extend the length and expand the fullness of your eyelashes is to use eyelash growth products that work. Check out the best ones here!
